Winter landscape sketch near Wolfville, Nova Scotia

Near Wolfville (oil sketch)

Oil on board

9 x 12-inches

This is a winter scene near Wolfville, Nova Scotia. It shows the tree lines, which I believe act as a geographic border for farm lands and a windbreak for crops. When you are up on the Blomidon mountain side, they appear as patches on a quilt. Up close, they're interesting and always near water.

I have sketched this twice recently and may create a larger painting based on these sketches, having studied the scene like this helps me understand which elements I want to enhance or eliminate. :)
